Fanfiction: The Lost Heir of Ravenclaw Chapter 6

An Ateez x Harry Potter Fanfiction

This fanfiction also appears on my wattpad and substack newsletter. I wanted to put it up here on my website, though, too. I hope to finish it one day…although currently, I have a bunch of other projects on my plate. But I love Ateez, and I love Harry Potter, and I saw a picture of them all dressed in Hogwarts gear…so I got inspired and just started writing.

Also: new pin picture. I keep trying to share that I’m writing this because I want other people to feel the same magic, but I think my old pin design wasn’t really…showing what this was about. Now on the new pin (above), you can see the guys, and see the title, and see the house colors…yeah. Anyways.

House Guide:

Gryffindor: Jongho, Wooyoung

Hufflepuff: Yunho, Seonghwa

Slytherin: Mingi, San

Chapter 6 – Hermione

Hermione was leaning back and staring hard at Jongho. Her plate was untouched in front of her, and her lips formed a delicate frown. He tilted his head towards her and she took that as a sign to get up. Ron glanced at her for only a moment and then started a loud conversation with the person next to him. Hermione rolled her eyes and crossed her arms as she walked over to the woman next to Jongho.

“Can I trade seats with you,” Hermione said to her. Curly blonde hair bounced around as the woman nodded her head, picked up her plate, and trudged off to Hermione’s seat. That was easy. Not that Jongho had spoken to the people around him except for Wooyoung – he hadn’t been in much of a mood for it.

Ron saw everything and spoke even louder. A cute giggle sounded from beside him. Hermione’s mouth twitched, but she didn’t look. Wooyoung was staring at her wide-eyed as she sat down.

She saw his attention and smiled. “Your name is Wooyoung?” she leaned and asked around Jongho. Wooyoung had a big piece of chicken in his mouth but tried to nod, wave, chew, and smile at the same time. The result was messy and he swore before turning to clean it up. He was probably over the moon because Hermione knew his name.

Everyone, of course, knew who *she* was. Even if she was a few years older than them. Jongho had a feeling that Wooyoung had a little crush on her – not that he would ever admit it. He was a flirt, but he liked it better when people went after him themselves.

Hermione chuckled before she turned to Jongho. “And your name is Jongho?” She asked. It looked like she wanted to ask more than that, but Jongho couldn’t guess what it was.

“Jongho. Yes,” he said and took a small bite of a dinner roll. Her eyes followed his hands, and then she mimicked his action with her own food. They ate in awkward silence while the chatter around them got louder and louder. Wooyoung had turned back to his new friends and was busy making plans. Something about Hogsmeade and a lot of butterbeer.

Jongho smirked. It sounded like the start of an adventure…if they could solve whatever was going on between them all first. He gulped down the last bite of his dinner roll. Time was ticking on. They’d be able to solve things soon – hopefully.

“I suppose you know who I am,” Hermione said and interrupted his thoughts. She had some chicken, now, and was picking at it tentatively.

Jongho eyed her. “I think everyone does,” and then quickly added as her face fell, “Sorry. You were in the papers a lot over the years. Everyone was excited that you three,” he angled his head towards Ron and Harry, “would be joining the university, too. Although I thought at least one of you would apply to be a prefect.”

She nodded and turned her chicken over. “Yes. Well. We thought about it. McGonagall personally requested that we apply. But all of us decided that it might be a better idea to keep a low profile.”

“You guys? Low profile?” Jongho joked and smiled.

Hermione returned it, although it didn’t reach her eyes. “Yes, well – we wanted to try, at least. This is an important initiative – almost like the start of a bridge between the wizarding and muggle worlds. None of us wanted to jeopardize that.”

Someone scoffed from down the table, and Jongho didn’t need to turn his head to guess who it was as Hermione rolled her eyes. It had to be Ron. Why was he being so petty? Hermione visibly deflated. “Most of us, anyways,” she added quietly and looked back at her chicken.

Jongho didn’t know what to do. He was smooth with most women, but this was *the* Hermione. It didn’t help that she had just gone through a rather public breakup, too. He thought quickly and opted for something that Hongjoong might do.

“Well, I think that’s pretty great. You guys will have a lot of eyes on you. And that means pressure. One screw up could put you in the papers, and maybe even get the program shut down. So I understand. It’s the right thing to do given what you’ve been through. It’s not easy being a celebrity.”

She smiled at him for real as he finished. “At least someone understands.” A fork slammed against a plate somewhere down the table but both of them ignored it.

Small talk didn’t seem to be what she was after. And for whatever reason, she wasn’t offering it on her own. “So why did you want to meet Wooyoung and I?” Jongho leaned in and said quietly.

Hermione looked thankful as she whispered back, “San pointed both of you out down by Hagrid’s hut and said to speak to you tonight. He also mentioned that I’d have an easier time if I approached you first, instead of Wooyoung.”

That explained why she checked to see who Wooyoung was. “Did he?” Jongho looked up and scanned across the tables. Sure enough, San was staring back. His expression was unreadable at first. But before long, he smiled, flicked his hair, and began to eat. Odd. What was he up to this time?

Hermione had seen it all, and raised an eyebrow. “Yes, he did. But I’m not sure this is the best place to talk after all.”

Jongho nodded. “After we reach the common room and get our maps, I’m sure we can find a place.”

Apparently he hadn’t been quiet enough.

“You wound me!” Wooyoung said, leaning his head over Jongho’s shoulder. Jongho leaned away, but Wooyoung tsked and quietly added, “If you’re planning to explore tonight, then I’m going with you. I was hoping you’d ask me, first, but I have no problems inviting myself. Anyways, I’m going, too.”

Jongho laughed. “Of course, of course. I’d expect nothing less.”

The three of them spent the rest of the banquet talking about the plans Wooyoung had made with his new friends. The excitement grew and everyone around them was drawn into the conversation again. Jongho and Hermione were quickly invited to come along. It sounded like their first weekend was fully planned for Hogsmeade shenanigans.

After many laughs and new inside jokes, Hermione had a little more color to her face, and Jongho was glad. It had taken him a little bit of time to realise that she was probably feeling the exact same way he was. Breaks – or breakups – were not an easy thing to go through. She must have needed the companionship. Maybe that was San’s plan all along?

He was anxious to get things sorted for himself, too. Wooyoung was acting nonchalant about it all in the great hall surrounded by others, but that was just how he was. Jongho knew that nothing had changed from what had been said in their hideout. They had to sort things out, and soon.

As more and more students got full and stopped eating, McGonagall once again stepped up to the podium. “Now, if the prefects–” but she was interrupted by a student at the Ravenclaw table who shot up from his seat.

“Professor –err, headmistress,” Hongjoong shouted. She gave him a piercing look but waited for him to continue. “If I can make a quick announcement, like we talked about?”

She nodded and waved him up. Hongjoong untangled himself from his chair and sprinted up to the podium. He bowed his head a few times and she stepped out of the way. Facing everyone with sparkles in his eyes and a giant smile across his face, he said, “We’re looking for band members for The Wild Ones. Auditions will be tomorrow, here in the great hall, at 8pm. We want to be ready for the Yule Ball so we have to get started right away. If you can play an instrument or sing, come audition and let’s make history together!”

Chuckles rang out here and there, along with a few cheers – Yunho among them. Yunho was the co-founder of The Wild Ones. They had been trying to get it going ever since graduating from the regular Hogwarts, but without much success. Jongho wondered how much planning they had done over the summer – without him – as Hongjoong skipped away from the podium and back to his seat. He was positively beaming.

Jongho felt happy for his friend, but sad that something had happened this summer. More than ever, he was determined to figure it out.

“Yes. Thank you, mister Kim,” McGonagall said. “The wizarding world needs more musical talent, indeed. Now, prefects, if you’ll lead your houses to your dormitories using your maps. And do remember to enjoy yourselves along the way. This castle may not have the extensive tradition of the regular Hogwarts, but it has been enchanted with careful thought and has many charms of its own. Good night!”

Prefects called out across each of the tables. Everyone stood and followed them out of the hall and towards their new homes for the rest of the school year.
